Punta Cana
Punta Cana is a part of the municipal district of Punta Cana-Bavaro-Veron-Macao in La Altagracia, the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic. The area is well known for its 32 kilometers of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters bordering the Caribbean and the Atlantic, and has been a popular tourist destination since the early 70s. With palm trees as a backdrop, these beaches have no equalent in the Caribbean. Punta Cana and Bavaro are very famous beaches throughout Europe and the Americas. The name refers to the Punta Cana cane palms in the region, and literally means "palm tips white cane."
The Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) is the most connected in the Caribbean and Central America, with flights operating from 26 countries airport. Currently, the new road allows tourists to reach the airport in less than an hour from La Romana and two hours from Santo Domingo.
